8. The Obama’s First Dogs
When Barack Obama was elected to office, he promised his family a dog. They welcomed a male Portuguese Water Dog into their lives and the White House in 2009 named Bo after musician Bo Diddley and Mrs. Obama’s first cat. Later, in 2013 the family was gifted another Portuguese Water Dog, a female named Sunny.

The tradition goes all the way back to George Washington, who owned a poodle called Pilot and a dalmatian called Madame Moose, as well as some more exotic pets like horses, donkeys, mules.

7. Oprah Winfrey’s Fur Family
Oprah has always been an unapologetic dog-lover. She has had more than twenty dogs and seems to have an affinity for dog breeds like cocker spaniels, golden retrievers, and springer spaniels. The three dogs she has now—a cocker spaniel and two springer spaniels—Sadie, Sunny, and Lauren were adopted from a no-kill shelter called PAWS based in Chicago.
You can see photos of Oprah on the covers of her magazine O, posing with her pets or relaxing with her on Instagram. The businesswoman even has her privileged pups written in her will and has a trust of $30 million set up to cover vet expenses and care if she passes before them.

6. Meghan Markle and Harry's Pups
When Meghan was still living in Toronto before she met Harry, she had two adopted beagles named Guy and Bogart. Her first dog, Guy, captured her heart at an event for adoption in Canada. Caretakers had trouble finding a home for the adult dog and would have been sent to a high-kill shelter in the U.S. if he wasn’t rehomed soon.
Meghan adopted Guy, and he was even absorbed into the royal family when she married Harry and moved to London. Bogart, who is older, stays with friends to avoid putting him through the stress of air travel. Now, Meghan, Harry, and their kids Archie and Lilibet live with Guy and an adopted black Labrador retriever named Pula in their California home.

2. Lady Gaga’s Priceless Pooches
Lady Gaga has a trio of very valuable dogs, French bulldogs named Asia, Gustav, and Koji. She can be seen posing with her little monsters or carrying Asia in her purse. This past February, the dogs gained even more attention on social media.
Gaga’s dog walker was attacked and shot, and the assailant ran off with two of her Frenchies. The dog walker recovered, and her dogs were found two days later. This type of situation is a real fear French bulldog owners have.
Pure-breds are common targets of pet-nappers because of their high price tags. It is easy to snatch up one of these small dogs to make a quick five grand. French bulldog owners advise that you change up the route you walk your dog.
